New people and visitors are always welcome to join us for worship, learning from the Scriptures, prayer, and fellowship at our church campus. A detailed, yet concise, explanation of our Lutheran doctrine and values is contained in our document “What Bible-Believing Lutherans Believe & Value.” This document is available upon request or can be taken from the literature rack in our Fellowship Hall. It is our firm belief that the Bible alone is God’s revelation, communication, and complete guide to faith and life for us and for all people!

We have hope and love as we enter into the season of Lent where we seek to purify the innerself, our heart. We have sinned, we will face death, but thanks be to God that Jesus turned death and sin upside down and it became a doorway to true life. We look inward but are not afraid. We look inward and seek transformation. We look inward because we are dancing on sin and death through Jesus Christ. Rend your heart and not your garments, seek to renew your heart this Lenten season and do so in the hope and love that comes from being a Child of God. 12pm: Noon day meditation & ashes. 7pm: Service and ashes

A whopping 158lbs of produce was collected today for the food bank! Eggplant, many different kinds of peppers and tomatoes, basil, lettuce, kale, greens, cantaloupe, watermelon, tomatillos, and more, oh my!

If you want a personal exploration of Mary here is an excellent audio meditation. The meditation focuses on the Song of Mary. (Being a Jesuit resource they celebrate this day as the assumption of Mary, that is, after her death God brought her into heaven and because of this she did not experience decay and death as we do. While not a Lutheran belief, this particular meditation does not explore the assumption. Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary Mary confesses that the foremost work God did for her was that He regarded her, which is indeed the greatest of His works, on which all the rest depend and from which they all derive. For where it comes to pass that God turns His face toward one to regard him, there is nothing but grace and salvation, and all gifts and works must follow. Thus we read in Genesis 4:4, 5 that He had regard for Abel and his offering, but for Cain and his offering He had no regard. Here is the origin of the many prayers in the Psalter—that God would lift up His countenance upon us, that He would not hide His countenance from us, that He would make His face shine upon us, and the like. And that Mary herself regards this as the chief thing, she indicates by saying: "Behold, since He has regarded me, all generations will call me blessed." Note that she does not say men will speak all manner of good of her, praise her virtues, exalt her virginity or her humility, or sing of what she has done. But for this one thing alone, that God regarded her, men will call her blessed. That is to give all the glory to God as completely as it can be done. Therefore she points to God’s regard and says: "For, behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. That is, beginning with the time when God regarded my low estate, I shall be called blessed." Not she is praised thereby, but God’s grace toward her. In fact, she is despised, and she despises herself in that she says her low estate was regarded by God. Therefore she also mentions her blessedness before enumerating the works that God did to her, and ascribes it all to the fact that God regarded her low estate. . . . For, of a truth, she did not lie when she herself acknowledged her unworthiness and nothingness, which God regarded, not because of any merit in her, but solely by reason of His grace. —Martin Luther St. Mary, the mother of Jesus, is mentioned repeatedly in the Gospels and the Book of Acts, with nearly a dozen specific incidents in her life being recorded: her betrothal to Joseph; the annunciation by the angel Gabriel that she was to be the mother of the Messiah; her visitation to Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptizer; the nativity of our Lord; the visits of the shepherds and the Wise Men; the presentation of the infant Jesus in the temple; the flight into Egypt; the Passover visit to Jerusalem when Jesus was twelve; the wedding at Cana in Galilee; her presence at the crucifixion, when her Son commended her to the care of His disciple John; and her gathering with the apostles in the Upper Room after the ascension, waiting for the promised Holy Spirit. Thus she is present at most of the important events in her Son’s life. She is especially remembered and honored for her unconditional obedience to the will of God ("Let it be to me according to Your word" [Luke 1:38]); for her loyalty to her Son even when she did not understand Him ("Do whatever He tells you" [John 2:1-11]); and above all for the highest honor that heaven bestowed on her of being the mother of our Lord ("Blessed are you among women" [Luke 1:42]). According to tradition, Mary went with the apostle John to Ephesus, where she died. Prayer of the Day Almighty God, You chose the virgin Mary to be the mother of Your only Son. Grant that we, who are redeemed by His blood, may share with her in the glory of Your eternal kingdom; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen
